Fall Ball Cancelled

August 27th, 2020

Dear Columbia Little League Families, Volunteers and Fans,

The 2020 year has been unforgiving for many of us in the sports world. Our spring season ended before most of our teams even got one practice in. We all hoped that it would only be a short pause in our Baseball and Softball activities, but we are now getting close to starting the 7th month of our league events being on hold.

We, your Columbia Little League Board of Directors, have decided that we will not be able to have Fall Ball this year also. We have spent these last several months brain storming on how we can make things work, but there are too many forces that are stopping us still from opening up. We decided on this decision based on a number of things:

1 – Clark County is still only in Phase 2 of Washington State’s reopening plan. We need to be in Phase 3 in order to have games and large practices. The soonest I’m being told this could happen is in the middle of October.

2 – Vancouver Parks are also not open for larger gathering until probably the middle of October.

3 – The rest of the District 4 Leagues have come to the same conclusion, most of them earlier than we have. Without the other leagues participating, we don’t have any other teams to play.

This isn’t the outcome that any of us were hoping for, but we feel it is in the best interest for the safety and health of our players, volunteers and spectators.

The focus now will be put towards planning for the 2021 Spring Season. Hopefully this pandemic will decrease to the point that we can start Columbia’s 66th season in the more normal we that we are all used to.

Once we have news about registration or other events, we will send that out to all of you and post it on our website and Facebook.

Until we can all meet up at the fields, stay safe and healthy and look ahead to the 2021 Season.
